The Droylsden Glass commercial installation team had worked on several projects for social housing management company New Charter. Following on from several successful communal housing entranceways and commercial shopfront installations for New Charter, we were their first choice for their latest project. The team at Droylsden Glass was again commissioned to supply and install new porches, this time at New Charter’s Springs Lane site in Ashton-under-Lyne.

40 new porches with canopy roofs

The existing porches at this sheltered housing complex were in poor condition and needed updating. A modern alternative was needed that met the latest security and energy efficiency regulations while also creating an appropriate visual appearance. For the project, we supplied and installed new porches for 32 single dwellings and eight double dwellings.

The porch roofs were supplied by renowned UK porch specialist Canopies UK. Featuring a durable and high performing Duchess White GRP canopy with slate grey decorative scalloped trim, they help to create an attractive weatherproof exterior entrance to these single storey buildings.

Super secure Linar white uPVC double glazed windows

For the glazing element of the porches, we installed high performing Liniar uPVC double glazed windows with white frames. Low-E laminated safety glass was used to help to regulate solar gain and ensure window safety was optimised. The double-glazed units are A-rated for energy efficiency and feature multi-point locking mechanisms to maximise security.

The project was a complete success, and the residents are now enjoying all the benefits of their stylish and high performing new home entrances. The project was also completed to New Charter’s full satisfaction and all work was accomplished within the time and budget agreements.
