The town of Poynton is located approximately five miles south of Stockport on the edge of the Cheshire Plain. A popular commuter town for Manchester workers, Poynton is a popular and desirable location for people living in northwest England.

For this conservatory replacement project, the Droylsden Glass installation team visited the Berzin family’s home in Poynton to carry out a full conservatory removal and new-build project.

Removing the existing conservatory and building the new SIP frame

The first part of the project involved removing the existing conservatory. This included removing all windows and doors, the conservatory frame, conservatory roof, and existing dwarf wall. Thanks to the Droylsden teams’ extensive experience, we were able to dismantle and remove all elements of the original conservatory with minimum disruption leaving only the existing concrete base.

Once the area was clear and ready for the new installation, it was time to construct the SIP framework. The new SIP walls were fabricated off site for easy and quick installation. Made from a combination of an OSB (Oriented Strand Board) casing over an insulating foam core, SIP buildings provide outstanding levels of thermal performance and weather resistance. For this project, we also incorporated external brick slips into the design to match the external brickwork of the main property exterior.

Deceuninck uPVC tilt & turn windows and Smart Visofold aluminium bifold door

Once the SIP construction was completed, it was time to install the new windows and door. For the windows, the Berzins opted for high performing uPVC tilt & turn windows from Deceuninck. Renowned for their attractive appearance and excellent performance, Deceunicnk uPVC tilt & turn windows feature an innovative two-way opening system for improved ventilation and were finished in dual colour Agate Grey and White.

For the door, our client wanted the ability to open up their extension wide to give access to their garden. To do this, they selected a Smart Visofold 1000 aluminium bifold door with three folding door leafs. Finished in Agate Grey and White to match the tilt & turn windows, the new doors add a touch of class to the new home extension.

Both the new windows and bifold door achieve an A rating for energy efficiency helping to keep the extension at an ambient temperature all year round.

Eurocell Lusso conservatory roof

The final part of the project was installing the new conservatory roof. To maximise natural light intake to create a bright and airy extension interior, the Berzins opted for a fully glazed Lusso conservatory roof from Eurocell. With its double hipped Edwardian design and aluminium boxed gutter, this roof system is both stylish and practical.

Smartglass Plus low E self-cleaning glass was chosen to reduce maintenance levels and the roof system was finished in combination Agate Grey and White to match the rest of the extension’s aesthetics.

The Berzins family were delighted with the overall standard of the installation and are now enjoying their extra living space all year round. They also left us this glowing video testimonial:
