Greenfield Place new build developmentAs we are no strangers to commercial installation work here at Droylsden Glass, we regularly work on new-build developments in Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas. Recently, we travelled to Saddleworth, part of the Borough of Oldham, to work on Greenfield Place, a new-build housing project in the area.

A trusted partner for new-build developments past and present

We have a longstanding, positive relationship with Bardsley Homes, having worked with them numerous times in the past on new-build projects, including The Boatyard in Worsley. As the property developer overseeing Greenfield Place, they knew they could rely on us to get the job done to the high standards required. So, they got in touch with us to see if we could fit windows and doors to 41 properties, comprised of 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, and 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom houses.

Cream uPVC windows in line with local building traditions

Cream uPVC windows on new build homesThe properties being built were designed to recreate the local stone and slate tradition. So, to ensure our uPVC windows were reflective of this, they came with a vintage cream finish, whilst astragal glazing bars and mock sash horns completed the classic look.

However, we made sure they did much more than just look the part. The combination of innovative, multi-chambered profiles and laminated safety glazing ensured for U-values of 1.2 W/m2k and helped the windows to meet the highest security standards. As a result, these properties now offered year-round comfort and complete peace of mind to their prospective tenants. As uPVC is a low maintenance material, keeping them clean throughout the year will be a piece of cake too.

Black on white composite doors

Cream uPVC casement windows with black composite doorsWe also fitted a selection of composite doors that came with a sophisticated black Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) exterior. As black blends in well with almost anything, it retained the traditional vibe of these new-build homes easily. Glass Reinforced Plastic is also easy to maintain and ultra-durable, so many years of continuing to look great can be expected. However, to ensure the interiors felt brighter, their internal finish was coloured white.

Each composite door also came fitted with leading security hardware, allowing them to achieve PAS24:2016 security accreditation with ease. As a result, any forced entry attempts into these properties will prove exceedingly difficult. And to allow future residents and their guests to move in and out of the properties with ease, we fitted each door with a low aluminium threshold.
